Our
Story
Nestled just above the lakeshore with sweeping views across the water, Kilimandege House—the original home on the sanctuary—was once the cherished residence of acclaimed wildlife filmmakers Joan and Alan Root.
From these very rooms, many of their extraordinary film expeditions were dreamed up and brought to life.

Indeed, every corner of the house tells a story — from Sally, the pet hippo who once wallowed in the garden pond, to the elegant crested crane that greeted Joan each morning on the veranda.

Steeped in charm and history, Kilimandege House is one of the few remaining magical, tranquil and unique place to stay in Naivasha- where time slows and nature hums.
